Webinar Series: The World Has Changed
Webinar Topic: Why it pays for businesses to take care of their workers
Webinar Date: February 27, 2021
The COVID-19 global pandemic has laid bare just how central worker wellbeing is to the way businesses function. In this session, I draw upon the rigorous research that my organization, Good Business Lab, has been doing to find common ground between worker wellbeing and business interests. The main lesson here is that ensuring that employees feel safe, healthy, and equipped with the skills they need is one of the most important investments businesses can make in this difficult economic environment.
Achyuta Adhvaryu is an Indian American economist.
He leads research and innovation at Good Business Lab, a nonprofit organization he co-founded in 2017.
He is also an Associate Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business and a Faculty Research Fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has a PhD in economics from Yale University and a bachelor’s in mathematics and economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Professor Adhvaryu pursues a research agenda at the intersection of business economics, development, and health.
His current work focuses on understanding determinants of worker productivity and measuring the impacts of interventions that increase productivity while improving key aspects of worker wellbeing.
