Mohammad Muneem Nazir, is a poet singer-songwriter and co-founder of the live act, Alif : Urdu & Kashmiri poetry, contemporary music with ethnic sound. He is the winner of the IRAA Award for the single Like a Sufi and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the single “lalnawath”.
He conceptualizes and directs Alif’s videos. Alif, his initiative, is currently working on composing and writing songs for an upcoming film called Torbaaz. Muneem has also been commissioned to write dialogues. Alif’s work has also been used in Imtiyaz Ali’s film Laila Majnu.
Muneem teaches Urdu poetry/songwriting at Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce and also conducts various poetry/song writing workshops. In 2010 he co-founded muziclub-live music in Pune, a music training / services company which has three active branches with over 2500 active students.
