Webinar Series: The World Has Changed
Webinar Topic: The Power and Peril of Your Inner Voice
Webinar Date: April 23, 2021
Tell a stranger that you talk to yourself, and you’re likely to get written off as eccentric. But the truth is that we all have a voice in our head. When we’re facing a tough task, our inner voice can buoy us up: Focus—you can do this. But just as often, it can sink us entirely: I’m going to fail. They’ll all laugh at me. What’s the use? This talk will reveal how our inner voice shapes our lives, and reveal science-based tools that give us the power to change them.
Our inner voice is a remarkable tool. It helps us imagine, remember, reflect, and then use these reveries to solve problems, innovate, and create. But our inner voice can also get us into trouble. It can lead to more harm than good when it morphs into chatter: negative thought loops that make our capacity to “talk to ourselves” feel more like a curse than a blessing, and can even damage our physical health. Join me in this webinar series as I explain why we have an inner voice and how you can harness it to think, perform, and live better.
