Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant (Padma Shri & Eminent Indian Classical Dancer)
Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, is a rare artist, who has brought the inspiring power of art to millions across the world. Ananda’s contribution over the last 45 years, straddles many facets of artistic endeavour – celebrated as one of India’s most eminent and extraordinary artiste – a prolific solo and ensemble performer, a dedicated Guru, a critically acclaimed choreographer, a brilliant scholar, an internationally sought after motivational speaker, a conscientious writer, an arts visionary and entrepreneur who conceptualised and produced a pioneering digital arts education application; all pointing towards a rare individual, who has harnessed the power of arts to transcend challenges of life, even as she battled a tryst with cancer.
A 2009 TED speaker, Anandas talk is ranked as one of 12 Incredible TED talks on cancer. A two time TEDxGateway speaker, Ananda’s international recognitions include being a speaker at the Inspire Series of the India Conference at Harvard University, in 2016, and an interview on BBC -World Service Radio for The Conversation on Breast Cancer, in 2017.
Ananda has been honoured with prestigious National awards – Padma Shri, & the Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar for Bharatanatyam. Ananda is a serving officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service.
