Charlie Todd (Founder, Improv Everywhere)
Webinar Series: The World Has Changed
Webinar Topic: The Return of Crowds
Webinar Date: January 29, 2021
For nearly two decades, Charlie Todd and his group Improv Everywhere have mastered the art of bringing crowds of joyful strangers together in public spaces.
In 2020 their work quickly became impossible. Todd reflects on the human connections that communities have lost during the crisis and predicts that providing creative ways for crowds to come together to laugh and smile will be more important than ever in a post-COVID world.
Charlie Todd is the founder of Improv Everywhere, producing and directing the group’s work for nearly 20 years.
The group aims to surprise and delight random strangers through unexpected public performances. Highlights include making time stop at Grand Central Terminal, surprising a retail store with 100 extra employees, and letting random strangers conduct a world class orchestra in the middle of Manhattan.
His Improv Everywhere projects have received half a billion lifetime views on YouTube.
Charlie also works in television, recently serving as executive producer and director of the Disney+ series “Pixar In Real Life.”
He’s also created and executive produced series and pilots for NBC, MTV, and Pop TV.
