From large format orchestras to full-scale operas, the most technically complex performances can be staged at this Proscenium theatre with a seating capacity of 1,109. Named after our founder, and operational since 1999, its technical facilities allow for international productions of opera, ballet and major musicals.

This well-equipped, elegant theatre also boasts of a historic marble staircase and a dazzling double-level foyer. It is, undoubtedly, the cornerstone for theatrical extravaganzas staged in South Asia.

Our History

TEDxGateway began as a small ideas conference in Mumbai, India. That single conference with 350 attendees in 2010 has grown into various annual events with 60,000+ attendees in person and 350+ speakers, all dedicated to TEDx’s global mission of researching and sharing meaningful new ideas.

Most of our conferences are broad in scope, such as our annual TEDxGateway Conference. Occasionally we hold deep-dive Salon conferences more focused on one subject area like - Climate Change, Women & Gender Discussion, Healthcare, Mental Health, Public Service, Parents & Children, Music & Mobility.

We search year-round for speakers who will inform and inspire, surprise and delight. TEDxGateway isn't a typical conference, and the TED audience has high expectations for the speakers – amazing individuals who invent game-changing devices, run the world's most admired companies, design its best-loved products and create ground-breaking media. TEDx also seeks out emerging artists, scientists, thinkers and doers, introducing them to the TED community well before they hit the mainstream.

How are speakers selected? Conference speakers are selected by our curatorial team who identify and investigate ideas and innovations that matter. We invite prominent experts, artists, activists and many others to attend and present our signature TED Talks in their areas of research and expertise.
